Islamabad, October 28: At the completion of three months to the Air Blue Plane Crash in Margallla Hills, PILDAT demands that the investigation of the incident be expeditiously completed and made public. The tragic Air Blue Plane Crash on July 28, 2010 saw the death of 6 of the members of the Youth Parliament Pakistan who were traveling to attend its Fifth and Final Session of the Youth Parliament here in Islamabad.

Islamabad, August 01; On the concluding day of the fifth and final session of the Youth Parliament Pakistan 2009-2010 batch, the members elected a new Youth Prime Minister with a heavy heart while reminiscing about their lost leadership in the plane crash of July 28. Mr. Hassan Sajjad Naqvi (YP25-PUNJAB07) took oath as the Youth Prime Minister. The oath was administered by Youth Deputy Speaker Ms. Ayesha Bilal Bhatti (YP27-PUNJAB09).

Islamabad, July 28; PILDAT expresses deepest sorrow at the sad demise of 6 Members of Youth Parliament Pakistan, including the Youth Prime Minister, on board the airblue flight ED 202 that has crashed this morning.

PILDAT serves as the secretariat of the Youth Parliament Pakistan. The 6 members of Youth Parliament on board the flight were travelling from Karachi to join the Youth Parliament session, final session of this batch, that began in Islamabad today.

Youth Parliament Steering Committee and Members express shock and sorrow at the tragedy of Airblue plane crash that had 6 Members of Youth Parliament on board

 
 

Islamabad, July 28; The Youth Parliament members were joined here today by Chairman Youth Parliament Steering Committee Senator S. M. Zafar and Mr. Wazir Jogezai, Member, in the session that began with a resolution expressing shock and sorrow at the national tragedy of plane crash today that had 6 Members of Youth Parliament on board, including other 159 passengers.

The 6 Members of Youth Parliament on board the Airblue flight ED 202, who were travelling to join the Youth Parliament session today, include:

1.    Mr. Hassan Javed Khan, (YP39-SINDH02; Blue) Youth Prime Minister

2.    Ms. Syeda Rabab Zehra Naqvi, (YP41-SINDH04; Blue) Youth Information Minister

3.    Mr. Bilal Jamaee, (YP44-SINDH07; Green) Youth Shadow Minister for Information

4.    Mr. Prem Chand, (YP38-SINDH01; Blue), Youth Minister for Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs

5.    Mr. Owais bin Laiq (YP45-SINDH08; Green), Member Youth Parliament Standing Committee on Information

6.    Syed Arsalan Ahmad (YP42-SINDH05; Blue), Member Youth Parliament Standing Committee on Information

The Youth Parliament Secretariat and members expressed deep sadness and anguish at the horrible tragedy. “We stand by the aggrieved families and pray for the safety and survival of our fellow members,” the members said in a resolution passed in the House. The Youth Parliament noted that an inquiry has been ordered and hoped that it swiftly and objectively concludes by bringing to light the real reason behind the plane crash.

Islamabad, July 28, 2010: The Fifth and Final Session of the 3rd batch of Youth Parliament Pakistan will begin today here in Islamabad. The session, which will span over 5 days, will cover key topics of State of Education System and Foreign Policy of Pakistan.

A representative from the British government will address Youth Parliament on the topic of UK’s Foreign Policy towards Pakistan on Thursday, July 29, 2010 while Mr. Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri, Former Foreign Minister of Pakistan will address the Youth Parliament on Friday, July 30, 2010 on the topic of Foreign Policy of Pakistan. Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, MNA, Former Federal Minister for Education will address the Youth Parliament Pakistan on Saturday, July 31, 2010 on the topic of State of the Education System in Pakistan.

Youth Parliament Pakistan concludes Study Visit to the UK by visiting the Constituency of Mr. Malcom Wicks, MP in Croydon

 
 

London, July 11; The Youth Parliament Pakistan delegation completed its Study Visit to UK in London on Friday by visiting the constituency of Mr. Malcolm Wicks, MP in Croydon.

The delegation, that was received in the Croydon Town Hall by Mr. Wicks, discussed in detail the constituency relations of the MP and the demarcation of roles between the local government and the MP at the constituency level. The delegates asked questions about the role as well as involvement of the MP in the constituency. The delegation also met with Mayor Councillor Avril Slipper and Mayor’s Consort Mr. Harry Slipper. The Youth Parliament Pakistan delegation introduced the Youth Parliament Pakistan and its aims and objectives.

London, July 06: The Youth Parliament Pakistan delegation that is in London for a week-long study visit, met and interacted yesterday with the Conservative Future, the youth movement of the Conservative Party, UK; the British Youth Council, a youth related organization led by young people, for young people, aged 25 and under, across the UK and the UK Youth Parliament, that has over 500 elected MYPs (Members of Youth Parliament) and Deputy MYPs who represent both young men and women, including young people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, and with physical and learning disabilities in the UK.

Islamabad, May 29: Youth Parliament Pakistan elected its new Prime Minister, Mr. Hassan Javed Khan (YP39-SINDH02), who took oath of the office today here at the Fourth Day of the Fourth session held in Islamabad. Earlier, former Prime Minister Rana Amaar Faruq (YP08-ICT01) submitted his resignation which in effect, dissolved his cabinet.

Youth Parliament concludes Second Session: 5th Day of 2nd Session  
 

Islamabad, February 07, 2010; The Youth Parliament Pakistan concluded its last session today held here in Islamabad after discussing a series of issues through the youth's perspective.

The day started with a Calling Attention Notice on the Bombings in Quetta, Balochistan. The house condemned the attacks and prayed for the departed souls of the martyrs.

Mr. Muhammad Saleem (YP19-PUNJAB01) called the attention of the House to the sugar crisis in the country and emphasized that there is enough sugar produced in the country to cater for the needs of everyone and Government should take strict actions against the people who have caused this crisis.

Islamabad, February 06, 2010; There can be no peace in the region without Pakistan and a time has come for Pakistan to do straight-talk with the World and share its viewpoint candidly. The West's new policy of dialogue with Taliban is a vindication of Pakistan's perspective that it has been sharing for the past many years. These views were expressed by Governor NWFP Mr. Owais Ghani while addressing the Youth Parliament Pakistan. Speaking on the topic of Revisiting Pakistan's Policy on Terrorism, Mr. Owais Ghani said that Pakistan has what it takes to fight every challenge. Pakistan has been saying to the West that its policy of 'global war on terror is misconstrued and faulty and which should be realistically evaluated. He said that the triumph of Pakistan is that it has firmly reversed the physical and ideological retreat to insurgents and insurgency which was experienced a while ago here.

Islamabad, February 5, 2010: Mr. Mushahid Hussain Sayed, General Secretary, PML and former Senator, while addressing the Youth Parliament Pakistan on the topic of Revisiting Pakistan's Policy on Terrorism, said that Pakistan has a key role to play in the region and the youth must focus its energies on developing new solutions drawing from lessons emanating from previous policies. He gave a historical overview of the geo-political importance of Pakistan in the region and identified various strengths of the country which must be acknowledged while planning for the present and the future. He supported the policy of dialogue in Afghanistan which he said was a huge triumph of Pakistan's perspective.

Government's Balochistan Package is Unrealistic: Senators from the JUI-F and the National Party inform Youth Parliament  
 

Islamabad, February 04, 2010: The Government's Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan package is an unrealistic document that does not sufficiently address the just requirements of Balochistan. Moreover, the Government is not in a position to implement its promises regarding missing persons due to the role of Intelligence Agencies in the province and it should not have made such promises, believed prominent Baloch leaders including Senator Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, President of the National Party and Senator Maulana Muhammad Khan Shirani of JUI-F. The two speakers were sharing their views with the Youth Parliament Pakistan on the topic of Balochistan Crisis. Mr. Lehrasip Hayat (YP23-PUNJAB05) has been elected as the Leader of the Opposition Youth Parliament Pakistan while Mr. Muhammad Aatif (YP01-AJK01) from the Blue Party has been elected as the Deputy Speaker of Youth Parliament Pakistan. Mr. Wazir Ahmed Jogazai, Former Deputy Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan took oath from the Youth Prime Minister and Deputy Speaker Youth Parliament.

Mr. Wazir Ahmed Jogezai, Former Deputy Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan served as the Speaker. Mr. Hammal Muneer Jan (YP03-BALOCHISTAN02) proposed a resolution to address the problems faced by Balochistan and revival of the NFC award. Mr. Lehrasip Hayat (YP23-PUNJAB05) explained the political structure in detail and stressed on the need to give confidence to the leadership of Balochistan. Mr. Ali Inam Khan proposed solutions that included granting of provincial autonomy with adequate cheques and balances, improving the agriculture sector and bringing in local and foreign investments. Blue Party will elect Youth Prime Minister for third consecutive batch while Green Party to serve as Opposition; Elections of the Youth Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition and Deputy Speaker form major part of Youth Parliament agenda

 
 

Islamabad, November 04, 2009: Third batch of the Youth Parliament Pakistan, selected from across Pakistan to serve a one year term of 2009-2010, is meeting for its inaugural session in Islamabad.

The first session of Youth Parliament Pakistan 2009-2010 batch will be held in Islamabad from November 04-08, 2009. Apart from an orientation session and a formal inauguration of the third batch during the 5-day session, the newly-selected members of Youth Parliament will elect a Youth Prime Minister, a Youth Leader of the Opposition, and Youth Deputy Speaker. The Youth Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition, in turn, will notify a Youth Cabinet and a Shadow Cabinet while Standing Committees will also become functional during the first session by electing their chairpersons.
