Mr. Rana Amaar Faaruq hails from Islamabad. He was born on August 20, 1989 and is currently enrolled in University of London External System programme LLB Hons. 2nd year at The Institute of Legal Studies (TILS) Islamabad. He was the Head Boy of Beacon House School, Islamabad and founded Islamabad’s first Debating Society called IDeaS. He was selected to represent Pakistan at the United World College of Hong Kong, among 200 other nationalities for two years on full scholarship where he studied the IB programme. He was recently selected by the American Embassy to attend the SUSI Leadership Programme for South Asian Student Leaders in the United States, representing Pakistan on the State Dept’s sponsorship. He has a passion for languages and has studied or holds diplomas in Arabic, French, Hindi, Gurumukhi along with English and Urdu and is currently studying Spanish. He has worked as a volunteer with Cross-roads International, an NGO for refugee assistance, and holds a license as a first aider from Saint John’s Ambulance. He also worked in relief assistance and trauma counselling after the 2005 earthquake and is a member of the Sarwari Qadari Sufi order and is regularly involved in writing and speaking on Sufism and religious reform. He hopes to work as a civil servant after becoming a Barrister. |
