Ms. Maria Fayyaz hails from Bahawalpur and was born on May 3, 1985. Having received a bachelor's in English literature and psychology from Government Sadiq Degree College, Bahawalpur, she is currently pursuing her master's in education at the International Islamic University, Islamabad. Ms Fayyaz has been active both as a student leader and volunteer. Notably, she was head of English Dramatic Society during her college years and is currently undertaking voluntarily work for the Islamabad-based NGO, Pakistan International Human Rights Organization. Her other interests include poetry and article writing, both in English and Urdu and she has occasionally contributed articles to various newspapers.

Politically, Maria Fayyaz was affiliated with Blue Party and during this term, she served as the Youth Minister for Education, Health & Environment for the period of May 29 - August 01, 2010
