Introduction
A delegation of 06 British Muslim Leaders from the United Kingdom, was in Pakistan on an official visit from June 22 to 26, 2006. Earlier, a delegation of Madrassa Administrators and Government officials from Pakistan visited UK from 26 February to 04 March 2006 to gain firsthand knowledge as to how Madrassas and Islamic schools operate within the UK�s state-regulated system.

 
 

Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency � PILDAT with the support of British High Commission, Islamabad had organised a Seminar on Madrassa Education in Pakistan and the UK on June 22, 2006 at Hotel Marriot Islamabad.

 
 

The seminar commenced with the welcome remarks by the Executive Director of PILDAT, Mr. Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, in which he briefed the participants of the Seminar about the theme of the discussion and introduced participants of the Seminar. Pakistani participants.

 
 

Dr. Maulana Ataur Rehman, MNA, Professor Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, President - Tanzim ul Madaris Al Arbia Pakistan; President, Darul-Uloom Naeemia, Karachi; Chairman, Central Roet-e-Hilal Committee, Pakistan; Professor, Jinnah University for Women, Karachi, Mr. Vakil Ahmed Khan, Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affiars, Zakat and Ushr, Qari Muhammad Hanif Jalandhary, Secretary General, Wafaq-ul-Madaris Al Arabia, Sahibzada Naeem Ur Rasool, Project Director of the Madrassa Reforms Project in the Ministry of Education, Maulana Abbas Naqvi. On the UK side the delegation Mr. Akram Khan Cheema, Chief Inspector of Schools in Bradford, Mr. Asim Siddiqui, Chairman of the City Circle, a network of young British Muslim professionals, Dr. Bano Murtaja, Senior Associate at Vis-�-Vis Research Consultancy, Ms. Shahedah Vawda, lecturer in Occupational Therapy at London�s South Bank University.

 
 

The Seminar was also attended by Mr. Kunwar Khalid Yunus, MNA, Qari Gul Rehman, MNA, Mr. Peter Wilson, Political Counsellor, British High Commission and the representative of the Media and Civil Society.
