May 15, 2014; PILDAT has received a special consultative status at the United Nation�s Economic and Social Council. (ECOSOC). The decision was taken by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at its Coordination and Management Session of April 2014.

Letter by the United Nation�s Non-Governmental Organisations Branch to PILDAT, that communicates the official decision, states that the �consultative status for an organization enables it to actively engage with ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies, as well as with the United Nations Secretariat, programmes, funds and agencies in a number of ways.� The official communiqu� also carries a list of privileges that consultative status with ECOSOC confers on PILDAT as well as the obligations that are required to be met under this relationship.
