Mr. Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, Executive Director of PILDAT, recently represented Pakistan as a Civil Society Representative at the first meeting of G8 - Broader Middle East and North Africa (BMENA) �Forum for the Future� held in Rabat, Morocco on December 08-11, 2004.

A meeting of the Foreign Ministers of G-8, Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and Afghanistan also took place on the occasion. Representatives of Arab League, the Arab Maghreb Union, the Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union also attended the `Forum for Future`

The meeting�s agenda included Democracy Assistance, Private Enterprise Development, Micro Finance, Civil Society, Investment Task Force, Literacy Initiative and Entrepreneurship and Business Training.

Mr. Mehboob earlier represented Civil Society of BMENA, countries alongside an Egyptian Scholar in September 2004 in a G-8 Foreign Ministers� Meeting at the margins of the United Nations General Assembly and presented a civil society memorandum to G-8 Foreign Ministers on the subject of politics, economics and social reforms in the region, leading to democratic, prosperous and peaceful societies
