Islamabad, December 31; Youth Parliament Pakistan demands setting up of a multi-party committee inside Pakistan for probing the murder case of Benazir Bhutto. The house, that met today for its second session starting today and going up to January 4, 2009, has demanded through a resolution moved by Mr. Yawar Hayat Shah, (YP22-PUNJAB03) that investigations need to be carried out quickly and within Pakistan. However, if the committee finds the involvement of a foreign hand in the murder case, it can seek the support of UN in that case.

A resolution was moved demanding of the government to take measures over de-escalating the war hysteria while also sending a tough message to the Indian Government. This resolution was moved by Ms. Sama Paras Abbasi (YP60-SINDH12), Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Zaidi (YP53-Sindh05) and Syed Muhammad Nishat Ul Hassan Kazmi (YP20-PUNJAB01). In the debate that followed the MYPs unanimously agreed for not only having a resilient but also a unanimous stance to check against external dictation and deadline prescriptions. They condemned the diplomatic fumbling that ensued after the Indian airspace violation and urged the government to act responsibly and coherently to save Pakistan�s diplomatic stance in the international community, from crumbling. They stressed that the diplomats and office holders should be briefed before they issue a statement while drawing attention to India�s calling in its ambassadors from 120 countries; they were of opinion that the government should pick up the stimuli and start doing some diplomatic homework. In the end the Prime Minister acknowledged the mal-handling of the crisis situation and acknowledged that the President, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari should not have explained for the actions of India vis-�-vis gross violation of airspace by calling it a �technical mistake� instead this violation could have been taken up by Pakistan as a diplomatic leverage to recover international support.

The second resolution condemned the indiscriminate violence against the Palestinian people in the GAZA strip and urged the International Community and the UN, in particular, to pressurise Israel to halt such barbaric acts of violence. This resolution was moved by Mr. Waqar Nayyar, (YP05-BALOCHISTAN03). The resolution invited a lot of argument on the issue of acknowledging Israel as a State in order to manifest Pakistan�s diplomatic, strategic as well as commercial behavior on the country to achieve the desired effect. The house was of unanimous opinion that beyond verbosity was required to bring such an important humanitarian issue to fore. This resolution was also laid and unanimously accepted by the house.

The Prime Minister reshuffled his cabinet by adding two new ministers: Mr. Waqas Aslam Rana (YP38-PUNJAB19) as Minister for Finance, Planning Affairs and Economics and Ms. Hira Batool Rizvi, (YP15-NWFP03), as Minister for Cuture, Sports and Youth Affairs. The present cabinet thus holds: Mr. Samir Anwar Butt, (YP10-ICT01), Minister for Foreign Affairs & Defence; Mr. Yawar Hayat Shah (YP22-PUNJAB03), Minister for Information; Mr. Zameer Ahmed Malik (YP50-SINDH02), Minister for Education, Health & Environment; Mr. Muhammad Rafique Wassan, (YP59-SINDH11), Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs & Human Rights including the two new recruits.

Mr. Wazir Ahmed Jogezai, Former Speaker of the National Assembly, presided the session while Ms. Donya Aziz, MNA and Engr Khurram Dastgir, MNA are Party Advisors for the Blue Party and the Green Party respectively, for this session.
