> Youth Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition take Oath

Islamabad, September 18; The Youth Parliament Pakistan has elected its Prime Minister and Mr. Ahmed Ali Babar (Constituency Number YP-21-PUNJAB 02), belonging to the Blue Party, has commanded the confidence of the House as the Youth Prime Minister. Bagging the post of the Deputy Speaker, Ms. Kashmala Khan Durrani, belonging to Balochistan, has been elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Youth Parliament Pakistan. As one of her first actions, the Deputy Speaker has declared Mr. Mohammad Essam Rehmani (Constituency Number YP-51-SINDH 03), belonging to the Green Party, as the Leader of the Opposition Youth Parliament Pakistan. Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi, MNA and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, viewed the proceedings of the Youth Parliament Pakistan from the Youth Parliament Visitors� Gallery. |

The first formal session of the Youth Parliament Pakistan began by the oath of the Members Youth Parliament or MYPs which was administered by Mr. Wazir Ahmed Jogezai, Former Deputy Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan, who has been invited to serve as the Speaker of the first session of the Youth Parliament Pakistan.

Earlier, in the Parliamentary Party meetings of the two parties, Blue and Green Party, the members finalised their nominations for different posts and filed nomination papers with the Youth Parliament Secretariat. The two parties are advised by Dr. Donya Aziz, MNA (PML) and Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan, MNA (PML-N). |

After the election of the office of the Deputy Speaker and Youth Prime Minister, the two MYPs were administered specific oaths of their offices by the Speaker Youth Parliament. Addressing the house after his ascertainment as Youth Prime Minister, Mr. Ahmed Ali Babar highlighted that he will use his office for the promotion of greater good of the country and for addressing specific youth-related issues of Pakistan. The Youth Parliament sitting was adjourned by the Speaker till 09:30 am on September 19, 2008. |

The Youth Parliament Business Advisory Committee also met following the session to finalise Youth Parliament Committee membership, Youth Parliament Calendar of Sessions and other details. |
