Islamabad, December 31; PILDAT has demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan must consult all political parties before it decides whether to postpone the January 08 poll. |
Commenting on the likely decision by the ECP on whether to postpone the January 08 polls or not, PILDAT Executive Director Mr. Ahmed Bilal Mehboob said that a decision taken unilaterally by the ECP will further dilute the credibility of the ECP and of the electoral process. This, he added, may also create resentment and create a law and order situation in the country.

In the wake of the national tragedy of Mohtarma Benazir Bhuttos assassination, the PPP is the worst-hit political party but it has not demanded delay of the Election date. In case the ECP feels the poll date needs to be moved forward, the ECP must take all political parties into confidence by explaining to them the compulsions of the possible delay before taking any decision. |
