The roundtable on 'Reservation of Seats for Technocrats in the Assemblies: Opportunities and Challenges' organized at Lahore on March 4, 2002 addressed the issues arising out of the Government's announcement to reserve seats for Technocrats in the assemblies. Prominent politicians having technocrat background, professionals, representatives of political parties and major professional bodies attended the roundtable.

The roundtable was part of the PILDAT programme to sensitize the professionals and their representative bodies to the need of playing a more active role in the national affairs of the country. The programme was designed to address the prevailing apathy of the educated class especially professionals towards the democratic and electoral processes in the country.
