Islamabad, September 25; Justice (Retd.) Wajihuddin Ahmed, who served as honorary chairman and member of the non-partisan election-process monitoring body, Citizens Group on Electoral Process � CGEP, has resigned from the Group following his nomination as a Presidential Candidate by the Lawyers movement. |

The Citizens Group on Electoral Process (CGEP) is a non-partisan group facilitated by Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development And Transparency - PILDAT to indigenously monitor the process leading up to elections in Pakistan. The Group includes eminent Pakistanis from the media, legal profession, civil society and former members of the superior judiciary and armed forces, but with no present affiliation with any political party. Justice Wajihuddin was elected Chairman of the group in December 2006 when CGEP held its first meeting The Group has produced numerous research and position papers on electoral issues including topics such as Electoral Rolls, Model Code of Conduct and Presidential Election, etc.
