In an effort to highlight the crucial issue of ensuring free, fair and credible elections in Pakistan, PILDAT organised a seminar on What makes an Election Credible on June 23, 2006 at Islamabad. Mr. Andrew M. Raucci, Election Law Expert from USA and Mr. T. N. Seshan, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India (Via Video link from India) were the speaker in the seminar while Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Information Secretary PML-N and Ms. Sherry Rehman, Information Secretary, PPPP were the panellists.

Mr. Andrew M. Raucci, stressed the need for an independent election commission and an independent judicial system to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in a country. He was of the view that people should have complete confidence in the judiciary. Mr. T. N. Seshan was of the view that no self-respecting country needs foreign observers to monitor election and decide about their fairness. Seminar was attended largely by Pakistani MPs, diplomats, representatives of CSOs and the media.
