As part of the Election 2002 activities carried out by PILDAT, we organized a roundtable entitled �Election Results and Prospects of Democracy� on November 25, 2002 in Islamabad at Ambassador Hall, Marriott Hotel, which was attended by prominent intellectuals, legislators, political analysts and media personnel.

Prominent leaders from major political parties were present at the occasion. The PPP-P central leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi, MMA central leader Farid Ahmed Paracha and PML-N leader Begum Tehmina Daultana were unanimous in accusing the government of having utilized the optimum level to ensure the victory of favored candidates and the parliamentarians of these parties resolved to continue with the stern opposition to Legal Frame Work Order (LFO) saying that the order could not become a part of the 1973 constitution unless and until approved by the Parliament.

While Dr. Muhammad Wasim, Head of International Relations Department of Qauid-e-Azam University was very informative about the electoral processes and various approaches used to study them.
